Dave rooney is a multi instrumentalist, a talented singer/songwriter hailing from Dublin and a very passionate musician who has been gigging and touring the length and breath of Europe for nearly 15 years. A singer with an exceptional vocal capability and range that would leave you with the hair standing on your neck.
Dave has a very unique sounding voice, carrying buckets of melodic tone for heart felt ballads. He sure does know how to deliver a song and he certainly rises to the occasion. The grandson of Jazz and swing pianist Christopher Rooney who was a prominent figure on the Dublin music club and pub scene in the 50‘s and 60‘s. It’s no surprise that Dave has carried on his Grandfathers legacy and musicianship.
Dave, a well known face on the Temple Bar music scene, can be heard most nights of the week performing in front of hundreds of music fans from all over the world. His high energy shows are without doubt a sight to behold, where he collaborates with top musicians, His performances to date have left the audiences in a frenzy shouting for more. Another string to Dave’s bow is that he’s also a member of the George Murphy band, where Dave plays bass and sings harmonies, and is a part of the songwriting team. Dave has graced such stages as the Point Depot, The Cork Opera House, The Marquis, Tripod, Dublin, and various other top venues in Ireland where he supported acts such as Madness, The Furey’s, The Saw Doctors, Picture House, Luka Bloom, Johnny Logan, and The Revs.
On returning to Ireland he has been working hard on writing his debut album, and has emerged with a melody of songs titled “This is my home”. These songs are testament to Dave’s travels and experiences, relationships, hopes and fears, high’s and lows that dave encountered while abroad. Dave plan’s to tour Ireland extensively following the release of his debut single and album,”This is my home”. When asked what he thinks of his new album” he said it’s an absolute privelege to perform in front of people, to perform songs I’ve created and composed myself? well that’s something even more special, I hope it never stops……………………………….”
